The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch is a quick and easy read. I really enjoyed reading it. Randy Pausch told his story well. Without any doubts you know what was most important to him during his life.

Randy Pausch had a unique perspective about how to live life. He admits many of the mistakes he made along the way and what he learned from those experiences. That is all any of us can do right? What stuck out as different though was his perspective of what was important. There is a story he refers to about his new car. Most of us would freak at the first spill, scratch or dent right? Well not Randy. As he is picking up his niece and nephew, his sister says to the kids "be careful of Uncle Randy's new car, don't make a mess". No sooner had she finished those words that he decided to pour his full can of soda all across the back seat of his new car. All he said was that material things don't matter. Everyone learned an important lesson that day. I know I did. My mouth just dropped. Could I ever do that? Randy makes you ask yourself, "how do I want to live my life".

His book gives you a different perspective on how to react in situations as an individual and/or as a parent. How many of us could use a reality check once in a while? This is what this book seemed to be all about. He doesn't come across to me as saying "this is the way you have to do things because I did". He is just sharing what worked for him and his family.  His hopes were that hopefully someone else could benefit from his experiences without having to learn the hard way. It is definitely worth your read.

Randy Pausch has a web site that show snippets of his lecture as well as various interviews from the media.  It may be worth while to visit Randy Pauschs' web site.
